Granted Nottingham 23/00595/PTPO Works to trees protected by TPO

Works: Trees

Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.

Proposal

T007 Lime Remove tree on the basis of the following: it has signs of disease and decay, it is suppressed by the oak, it is set back from the boundary streetscape; it shades a large portion of the garden. We have also had advice that it would be safer to take it out now whilst it is still safe to climb (see survey info and photos)

WORKS: Fell large conifer to ground level only by sectional dismantle. Grow new trees/ plants along the boundary. LOCATION: In back garden , about 10 meters from house building. Marked as tree 1 on the sketch. REASONS: The tree has grown too tall and now blocking sun to ours and neighbour's house during most of the day time which can result into a) Damage to the property due to dampness b) Dampness in turn can effect respiratory health c) Effect bone health due to Vitamin D deficiency due to lack of sunlight. To improve light for other plants and grass to grow Has become too big to be managed. Due to very close proximity to the house, risk of significant damage to the property if it falls down or roots can cause Subsidence.

See Tree Survey from Dave Simpkin of 4D Tree Survey for photos and additional information T001 Sycamore (smaller one of two, secondary stem) remove tree (see survey) T003 Common Holly take down height to 15 feet so it can continue line from yews to become part of the boundary hedge (see survey) T004 Robinia re-pollard as per survey to avoid danger of failure of limbs over highway but leave epicormic growth as much as possible (see survey info and photos) T005 Lime Crown clean to remove canopy deadwood over 20mm; crown lift to 6 metres (see survey) T006 Oak Crown clean to remove canopy deadwood over 20mm; crown lift to 6 metres; reduce lateral branches by 2 metres on road side retaining a natural shaped balanced canopy, to reduce the likelihood of limb failure via delamination and / or wind breakage (see survey info and photos) T008 Elm (self-seeded) Fell, close proximity to wall. T009 Common Holly Formative prune to ensure safe passage on steps and remove ascending growth back to previous pruning points (see survey) T010 Yews in hedge Formative prune to reduce the height to 2.5m, radial spread on garden side to 1m, and radial spread on road side to 2-2.5m to return to hedge structure: on Redcliffe Road side to create clearance from highway and street lights; on garden side to give more light to shrubs; reduce height in the same process (see survey info and photos)

Tree Code: Sgl/106736 Species: Beech (Fagus sylvatica) TPO: TPO269 (T10) Works Sectionally fell and remove the Beech tree to ground level. Remove all timber, branches and arising debris from site. Grind out or otherwise remove the stump where practicable, or leave at ground level as directed by the client. Reason for Works The tree is exhibiting significant structural defects and decay, including: Evidence of substantial basal decay associated with fungal activity (Pholiota spp.). Hollow sounding stem indicating internal decay. Two very large historic tear-out wounds, including one approximately 5 metres above ground level. Major limb loss and loss of large branches. Abnormal buttressing and trunk form. Stem decay below the crown break. These defects indicate a significant decline in structural integrity and an increased risk of partial or whole-tree failure. Summary 1 × Beech (Fagus sylvatica) Sectional dismantling and removal of the entire tree due to advanced structural defects and decay.
