Planning application

21/01815/PWC

13 Villa Road Nottingham NG3 4GG

Granted Nottingham Works to trees in Conservation Areas

Proposal

Limes (T1 and 2). Pollard to original pollard unions. These two trees are getting far too big. They are blocking light to the garden causing excessive shading of other plants. They are interfering with telecommunication cables, and impeding the growth of adjacent trees. They overhang the roadway and shed sticky sap over the pavement and parked cars, as well as over adjacent trees and shrubs, which have become covered with a sticky dirty mass that inhibits their ability of photosynthesise. Holly on adjacent property (no. 15) (T3) Permission has already been granted to the agents for the owner of no. 15 to cut this tree back away from that house. I would like to also cut back overhanging branches to the boundary line as it is very large and shading my garden. Self-set sycamores behind coach house (T4) Cut to ground level and treat the stumps with systemic herbicide. These self-seeded trees are in danger of undermining this building and need to be removed. All tree work will be carried out in accordance with BS 3998: 2010 (recommendations for tree work).

What a grant of permission means

The process from here

Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.

Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.

About trees applications

How this application type works

Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.
