Planning application

21/01347/LBC

Cross House The Green Wallsend Tyne And Wear NE28 7PG

Granted North Tyneside listed building consent

Proposal

Removal of cement render from front and gable wall, and if practical, return to the original brickwork with lime pointing. If the brickwork is not in good condition re-render with lime mortar mix. Removal of the cement pointing from rear elevation stonework and re-point with lime mortar mix. Repair existing sash windows removing wood rot, overhaul sash mechanisms, and repaint. Replace front doors with solid wood replacements as these are not the original, are of very poor quality, and lack security. Replace back door with solid wood replacement as this not the original, is of poor quality, and out of character with the property.

What a grant of permission means

The process from here

Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.

Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.

About heritage and listed buildings applications

How this application type works

Heritage applications concern listed buildings and conservation areas. Listed building consent is needed for works, inside or out, that affect the special interest of a listed building, and carrying out such works without consent is a criminal offence. The council weighs harm to the heritage asset against any public benefit of the proposal.
