Pond excavation between 1.9 and 2.0m deep with gently sloping sides approx.1:3. Top spoil, approximately 60cm spread over field. Yellow oxidised clay, approximately 1.2m used as infill on field. Grey clay from bed of new pond applied to bottom half of excavation so that lower part of pond is relatively water-tight and retains water year round as a freshwater ecological resource
