About heritage and listed buildings applications

How this application type works

Heritage applications concern listed buildings and conservation areas. Listed building consent is needed for works, inside or out, that affect the special interest of a listed building, and carrying out such works without consent is a criminal offence. The council weighs harm to the heritage asset against any public benefit of the proposal.

Listed building consent to reduce the height of the existing chimney and adjacent parapet wall at the back of Senlac House. The currently - increased height - is a result of the past alteration to the property to accommodate the roof of the infill extension which is now being demolished. None of the chimneys are in use. This amendment is dictated by the safety concerns based on up-close site inspection by the Structural Engineer The works include reduction in height, strengthening, essential repairs and general renovation works including the installation new clay chimney pots to match the style of existing. The new height will be closer to the original - as can bee seen on the historic photographs, and will match the chimney height of the neighbouring Castle Club.
