Works: Trees
Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.
Proposal
REAR: ONE Bay Tree (Laurus Nobilis)(ht.7m) FELL. Reason: close to rear elevation and garden wall, minor internal plaster cracks on the house internal wall, and larger cracks around the window frame, causing ongoing maintenance issues, the tree has outgrown its planting location and restricted space. Replacement: A suitable, smaller species will be planted in an appropriate location within the garden. Informative A: huge thank you for planting a smaller replacement tree elsewhere in the garden for amenity, wildlife and shade to reduce increasingly high summer temperatures due to climate change. Informative B: please create habitat log piles with arisings for wildlife and biodiversity.

12 PRINCETHORPE ROAD, LONDON, SE26 4PF
REAR: ONE Lombardy Poplar (T1)(ht.16m) CROWN REDUCE by 10-11m to ht.5-6m, REDUCE SPREAD from 10m to 5m to create new pollard. Reason: multi-stemmed tree has had a major stem failure exposing large cavity approx.2m above gd level. Remaining stem above cavity is weighted towards neighbouring properties and a crown reduction to reduce weight and sail above cavity is urgently needed to minimise risk of future failures. Merely reducing the one stem would drastically change the balance of the overall canopy and exposure to wind would be likely to cause more failures on the remaining stems. Crown reduction is required for safety to reduce overall canopy to approximately 5-6m from ground level (please see annotated photo) to create a new pollard. Informative A: thank you for managing the tree by safe reduction to retain as a low pollard for rear amenity, wildlife and canopy shade to reduce heatwave temperatures due to climate change. Informative B: please create habitat log piles with arisings for wildlife and biodiversity.
