Works: Trees

Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.

Proposal

REAR: ONE Smoke Bush (T1)(ht.5m) FELL and replant with a Lilac in a different location. Reason: tree is in poor condition, multi-stemmed, in patio paving and is preventing the use of the patio area. REAR: ONE Pear (T2)(ht.8m) CROWN REDUCE HEIGHT by 3m from 8m to ht.5m, spread by 1m from 3m to 2m. Reason: overgrown, to improve light conditions. REAR: ONE Holly (T3)(ht.6m) CROWN REDUCE HEIGHT by 2m from 6m to ht.4m, spread 1m from 3m to 2m. Reason: holly tree is crowded out, to increase light. REAR: ONE Goat Willow tree (T4)(ht.8m) CROWN REDUCE HEIGHT by 3m from 8m to ht.5m, spread by 2m from 5m to 3m. Reason: to manage within the garden, and increase light. Informative A: replacing T1 with a Lilac is greatly appreciated to maintain rear garden amenity, wildlife and shade to reduce increasingly high summer temperatures due to climate change. Informative B: please create habitat log piles with arisings for wildlife and biodiversity.

REAR: ONE Cherry tree (ht.8-10m) Fallen. Duty to replace applies. Reason: tree began leaning, arborist called to inspect and was going to return to support the tree but the tree fell over w/e (31 Jan / 1 Feb) due to age 50yrs+, fungal bracket and very wet ground from heavy rainfall this winter. Informative A: the landowner has a duty to plant another tree of an appropriate size and species when a tree is removed in a conservation area because it is dead or presents an immediate risk of serious harm. Ref. Tree Preservation Orders and trees in conservation areas, guidance, para 121. Informative B: replacement species such as: crab apple, hazel, hawthorn, elder, alder buckthorn, holly, bird cherry, pear, purple plum. Informative C: replacement tree planting is important for rear amenity, wildlife, wellbeing, environmental benefits such as and shade to reduce increasingly high summer temperatures due to climate change. Informative D: please create habitat log piles with arisings for wildlife and biodiversity and leave stump / roots in the as habitat and food for the endangered stag beetle which has a stronghold in SE London.

    12 PRINCETHORPE ROAD, LONDON, SE26 4PF

REAR: ONE Lombardy Poplar (T1)(ht.16m) CROWN REDUCE by 10-11m to ht.5-6m, REDUCE SPREAD from 10m to 5m to create new pollard. Reason: multi-stemmed tree has had a major stem failure exposing large cavity approx.2m above gd level. Remaining stem above cavity is weighted towards neighbouring properties and a crown reduction to reduce weight and sail above cavity is urgently needed to minimise risk of future failures. Merely reducing the one stem would drastically change the balance of the overall canopy and exposure to wind would be likely to cause more failures on the remaining stems. Crown reduction is required for safety to reduce overall canopy to approximately 5-6m from ground level (please see annotated photo) to create a new pollard. Informative A: thank you for managing the tree by safe reduction to retain as a low pollard for rear amenity, wildlife and canopy shade to reduce heatwave temperatures due to climate change. Informative B: please create habitat log piles with arisings for wildlife and biodiversity.
