Planning application

UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL LEWISHAM, LEWISHAM HIGH STREET, LONDON, SE13 6LH

Granted Lewisham DC/26/142583 Trees in Conservation Areas

Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.

Proposal

Amended works omit TWO Sycamore T24,T25 as agreed in agents email 3 Feb 2026: CENTRAL: ONE Sycamore (T12)(ht.9m) CROWN LIFT to 5m above ground level, remove broken/damaged branches. Reason: to provide clearance beneath canopy. CENTRAL: ONE Sycamore (T13)(ht.17m) LATERAL REDUCE by 2m on N&E compass to suitable growth points, CROWN LIFT to 5m above ground level, (sever ivy - exempt work). Reason: to provide clearance from building. CENTRAL: ONE Crab Apple (T28)(ht.6m) LATERAL REDUCE SPREAD by 1m from 4m to 3m on W compass. Reason: clearance from building. CENTRAL: ONE Sycamore (T30)(ht.14m) CROWN REDUCE HEIGHT by 2.5m to ht.11.5m, LATERAL REDUCE by 1m from 6m to 5m to suitable growth points. Reason: Remove broken/damaged branches, improve re-balance shape. FRONT (by A21): ONE Wild Cherry (T31)(ht.13m) CROWN REDUCE HEIGHT by 2.5m to ht.10.5m, LATERAL REDUCE SPREAD by 1m from 5m to 4m to suitable growth points. Reason: Remove broken/damaged branches improve re-balance shape. FRONT (by A21): ONE Sycamore (T32)(ht.12m) LATERAL REDUCE by 1.5m from 6m to 4.5m on NE compass. Reason: clearence from carpark light. Informative A: omitting the 2 sycamores T24,T25 from the 6-week notice is hugely appreciated to enable a comprehensive report of the wall situation relative to the trees which screen hospital buildings and provide a treed landscape setting of the Church Therapeutic Garden. Informative B: as discussed in previous joint meetings about the wall between Council, Church and Hospital, should it be established there is no alternative to repair the wall other than by crown reduction or felling T24,T25, a tree & shrub replanting plan is to be produced to mitigate loss of amenity. Informative C: huge thank you for sensitive management of trees throughout the hospital estate to retain a treed setting for staff, patients and visitors for amenity, wildlife, wellbeing and health especially for shade to reduce increasingly high summer temperatures due to climate change and to improve air quality beside the busy A21. Informative D: new tree planting across the hospital estate is encouraged to maintain long-term public realm amenity, wildlife habitat, health & wellbeing, urban forest canopy cover to reduce air pollution and mitigate climate change. Informative E: please create habitat log piles with arisings for wildlife and biodiversity.

    249A KIRKDALE, LONDON, SE26 4QD

FRONT: THREE Lime (T1,T2,T3)(ht.7-8m) carefully re pollard the crown back to old points aproximately 3 metres of regrowth FRONT: ONE hornbeam (T4)(ht.8m) reduce the overall size of crown by 3 metres. These trees are causing excessive shading

  • DC/26/144936 Granted

    12 PRINCETHORPE ROAD, LONDON, SE26 4PF

REAR: ONE Lombardy Poplar (T1)(ht.16m) CROWN REDUCE by 10-11m to ht.5-6m, REDUCE SPREAD from 10m to 5m to create new pollard. Reason: multi-stemmed tree has had a major stem failure exposing large cavity approx.2m above gd level. Remaining stem above cavity is weighted towards neighbouring properties and a crown reduction to reduce weight and sail above cavity is urgently needed to minimise risk of future failures. Merely reducing the one stem would drastically change the balance of the overall canopy and exposure to wind would be likely to cause more failures on the remaining stems. Crown reduction is required for safety to reduce overall canopy to approximately 5-6m from ground level (please see annotated photo) to create a new pollard. Informative A: thank you for managing the tree by safe reduction to retain as a low pollard for rear amenity, wildlife and canopy shade to reduce heatwave temperatures due to climate change. Informative B: please create habitat log piles with arisings for wildlife and biodiversity.

FRONT: MIXED Hedge (MX1) To cut back to boundary line to prevent encroachment onto pavement. Height is currently 2m remaining the same by a spread of 2m reducing to 1.5M on the pavement side (South). General maintenance. REAR: ONE Sycamore (T1) CROWN REDUCTION by 2m shaping accoringly. HEIGHT 2m from 12m to 10m & LATERALS 2m from 7m to 5m on all compass points. Remove major deadwood. To sever Ivy at base to 2 metres from ground level.

  • DC/26/144742 Granted

    13A AVON ROAD, LONDON, SE4 1QQ

ONE Eucalyptus (T2) CROWN LIFT to 3m, CROWN THIN by 10%, CROWN REDUCTION to previous pruning points, HEIGHT by 2m from 9 mto 7m, LATERALS by 2m from 6.5m to 4.5m & CROWN HEIGHT by 1m from 2m to 3m. Reasons: Routine maintenance. Too large for garden size, causing excess shading.
