Reason: tree snapped out in 1987 storm, crown regrown, stem hollowed by decay, low pollard of the crown required to retain the tree, health & safety, high target risk as public space. London Borough of Lewisham (Hall Drive) Tree Preservation Order 1971. Informative A: the landowner has a duty to plant a replacement TPO tree when there is an urgent necessity to remove the tree because it is dead or presents an immediate risk of serious harm, para 79 and 80 Tree Preservation Orders and trees in conservation areas, government guidance 6 March 2014. Informative B: please retain a high stump of ash (TPO T15) for wildlife habitat and biodiversity. Informative C: replacement tree planting for the ash (TPO T15) is required for amenity, wildlife and shade to reduce increasingly high summer temperatures due to climate change, replacement species to be a suitable large canopy tree species selected from: hornbeam, sessile oak, Wild Service Tree, Bird cherry, Small leaved lime, black poplar, Italian Alder, tulip tree, Norway maple, hop hornbeam (Ostrya carpinifolia), Indian horse chestnut, Sweet chestnut, Caucasian wingnut (Pterocarya fraxinifolia) - see below for further tree replacement details.
