Works: Trees
Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.
Proposal
REAR: ONE Sycamore (T1)(ht.4-5m) FELL. Reason: tree in poor condition - basal stem decay wound, rope girdling damage to forked branches, dead wood and dieback in the canopy. Informative A: planting a replacement small species tree is strongly encouraged to maintain rear amenity and urban greening benefits, species such as: Amelanchier, hazel, Cornus mas, Witch hazel, Guelder rose, winter flowering cherry (Prunus autumnalis), Cornus Kousa, Magnolia kobus, Harlequin Glorybower, Cornus controversa, Cornus capitata, Persian Silk tree, Crape Myrtle, Quince (Cydonia oblonga), Magnolia stellata, Magnolia x loebneri, Chinese redbud (Cercis chinensis). Informative B: please create habitat log piles from arisings for wildlife and biodiversity; planting climbers on boundary fencing, shrubs and flowering perennials will provide additional urban greening and plants for pollinators.

12 PRINCETHORPE ROAD, LONDON, SE26 4PF
REAR: ONE Lombardy Poplar (T1)(ht.16m) CROWN REDUCE by 10-11m to ht.5-6m, REDUCE SPREAD from 10m to 5m to create new pollard. Reason: multi-stemmed tree has had a major stem failure exposing large cavity approx.2m above gd level. Remaining stem above cavity is weighted towards neighbouring properties and a crown reduction to reduce weight and sail above cavity is urgently needed to minimise risk of future failures. Merely reducing the one stem would drastically change the balance of the overall canopy and exposure to wind would be likely to cause more failures on the remaining stems. Crown reduction is required for safety to reduce overall canopy to approximately 5-6m from ground level (please see annotated photo) to create a new pollard. Informative A: thank you for managing the tree by safe reduction to retain as a low pollard for rear amenity, wildlife and canopy shade to reduce heatwave temperatures due to climate change. Informative B: please create habitat log piles with arisings for wildlife and biodiversity.
