Proposal
ONE: Holm Oak (T68, in A1 in TPO)(ht.13m,r.6-7m) FELL amended to CROWN REDUCE HEIGHT by 3-4m to approx.ht.9m, LATERAL REDUCE by 4m from r.6m to approx.r.2m on NE compass point (over road), and LATERAL REDUCE by approx.3m from r.7m to approx.r.4m on NW and SE compass points (across landscaped boundary). Reason: on raised ground adjacent to highway, over-extended branches and canopy particularly over road, upper canopy foliage thin/ dying back, retrenchment management to retain mature tree for streetscape amenity and biodiversity. The London Borough of Lewisham (Hither Green Hospital Site, Hither Green SE13) Tree Preservation Order, 1992 Informative A: the sensitive management of the tree for landscape amenity, urban forest canopy to mitigate climate change, wellbeing, wildlife and environmental benefits is greatly appreciated. Informative B: where possible please use cut branches on site to create habitat wood piles, and linear 'dead hedge' for wildlife and biodiversity. Informative C: please continue to plant trees, shrubs, hedges, climbers, perennials, bulbs and groundcover for varied landscape amenity, urban forest canopy, wildlife habitat, plants for pollinators, improve air quality beside Hither Green Lane. Tree work specification amended to crown reduce (not fell) as agreed in agent's email 03/02/2023:

12 PRINCETHORPE ROAD, LONDON, SE26 4PF
REAR: ONE Lombardy Poplar (T1)(ht.16m) CROWN REDUCE by 10-11m to ht.5-6m, REDUCE SPREAD from 10m to 5m to create new pollard. Reason: multi-stemmed tree has had a major stem failure exposing large cavity approx.2m above gd level. Remaining stem above cavity is weighted towards neighbouring properties and a crown reduction to reduce weight and sail above cavity is urgently needed to minimise risk of future failures. Merely reducing the one stem would drastically change the balance of the overall canopy and exposure to wind would be likely to cause more failures on the remaining stems. Crown reduction is required for safety to reduce overall canopy to approximately 5-6m from ground level (please see annotated photo) to create a new pollard. Informative A: thank you for managing the tree by safe reduction to retain as a low pollard for rear amenity, wildlife and canopy shade to reduce heatwave temperatures due to climate change. Informative B: please create habitat log piles with arisings for wildlife and biodiversity.
