Reason: health and safety, three of six pollard limes have decayed, hollow, leaning stems and/ or basal decay, located between rear carpark and access road. Duty to replace applies. Informative A: Duty to plant another tree of appropriate species near the same place applies when a tree in a conservation area is removed because it is dead or presents an immediate risk of serious harm. (para 121 Tree Preservation Orders and trees in conservation areas). Replacement planting as individual trees or as a hedge filling the bank between the remaining 3 trees with tree/hedge species such as hawthorn, crab apple, holly, hazel, field maple, spindle, Amelanchier, bird cherry. Informative B: leave stumps in situ to decay for stag beetle habitat and biodiversity.
