Planning application

1 FORBURY ROAD, LONDON, SE13 5FZ

Granted Lewisham DC/21/121400 Trees in Conservation Areas

Works: Trees Small domestic

Read from the description, not a valuation. How we read the register

Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.

Proposal

REAR (St Matthew Academy): TWO Hornbeam (T1,T2)(ht.9m) CROWN REDUCE HEIGHT by 2.4m from ht.9m to ht.6.5m, REDUCE SPREAD by 1m from 3m to 2m. Reason: trees close to boundary fence on top of 6m high retaining wall, branches could cause fence to fall, health & safety concerns. Informative A: it is hugely appreciated that the trees are being retained to contribute to the green setting of the graveyard and screening the new development from St Matthews Academy, with regard to the proximity of the trees to the applicant's boundary fence. Informative B: The original crown reduction proposed a 6ft (1.8m) height reduction. BS 3998:2010 Tree Works ? recommendations, 7.7 Crown reduction and reshaping - the general principle is that following reduction there should still be a strong framework of healthy small-diameter branches and twigs (leaf bearing structure) with a 12% reduction of branch length (radial distance) considered appropriate, which equates in this case to a 1m height reduction and 0.5m reduction in canopy spread. The lesser height reduction of 1m would be preferred for urban greening and environmental benefits.
