REAR: ONE Rowan (T2)(approx.ht. 8-10m) CROWN REDUCE HEIGHT by approx.2m from approx.10m to approx.8m, REDUCE RADIUS by approx. 1-2m from 4m to 2m, on W compass point. Remove deadwood (exempt works). Reason: to reduce overhang to rear garden of no.15. REAR: ONE Apple (T3)(approx.ht.3-4m) CROWN REDUCE or FELL as required. Reason: excessive lean. Informative regarding T1 Birch - lateral branch reduction to be sensitive to the delicate, cascading canopy form of the birch with the size of pruning cuts kept to the minimum required. Ref BS 3998:2010 Tree works ? Recommendations, para 7.2.2 ? pruning in relation to the ability of the species to react defensively against wounding, 'Species of Betula generally have particularly weak defences against the development of decay and should be pruned as sparingly as possible' Informative: retain deadwood logs and standing deadwood where safe for biodiversity and habitat for the nationally endangered stag beetle which has a strong hold in SE London.
