Planning application
93B UPPER BROCKLEY ROAD, LONDON, SE4 1TF
Works: Trees Domestic
Read from the description, not a valuation. How we read the register
Withdrawn before a decision, so it carries no planning weight. A revised scheme can be submitted at any time.
Proposal
The existing driveway paving has been pushed up and distorted as tree roots are growing under it. The current paving is not safe to walk on and so needs to be replaced so its not a hazard. This application is to remove the existing concrete paving slabs and level the area under the paving slabs removing the roots as needed before laying charcoal grey lock paving. The size and shape of the area will not be changed and it will not change the function of the area but it will improve the area as it will now be level and will look at lot neater.

FRONT: ONE Ash/Robinia CUT SURFACE ROOTS on S compass point (across front garden). Reason: to relay the uneven and hazardous paving stones caused by root growth. Informative: when pruning roots BS 5837:2012 Trees in relation to design, demolition and construction ? Recommendations: Para 7.2.3: roots smaller than 25mm diameter may be pruned back, making a clean cut with a sharp tool (eg. bypass secateurs or handsaw). Roots in clumps or of 25mm diameter and over should be severed only following consultation with an arboriculturalist, as such roots might be essential to the tree's health and stability. Informative: As an alternative to re-laying paving, consider mulching and growing ground cover plants and small bulbs: BS 3998:2010 Tree works ? Recommendations: Clause 6.2 Mulching ? an area of ground over the root system of a tree may be mulched which would occur under natural conditions where organic matter (eg dead leaves) accumulates on the ground under trees. The mulched area should extend over as much of the root system as can be allowed by other site usage requirements.
