Informative: trees in rear gardens, hidden from public view, contribute to the urban forest and provide benefits for climate change mitigation, reduction in air pollution, wildlife habitat and connectivity, privacy, screening and rear outlook amenity. More intensive use of rear gardens can bring conflict with the borough's larger canopy trees. It is greatly appreciated when trees can be accommodated and retained.

The process from here
