  • DC/19/112837 Granted

GROUND FLOOR FLAT, 23 LEE TERRACE, LONDON, SE3 9TE

FRONT to Lee Terrace: TWO Elm (T1 & T2, ht.9-10m) FELL and replace with native species. Reason: both have serious die back, most likely Dutch Elm Disease, overhang the highway, safety concerns. FRONT to The Glebe: ONE Lime (T3, ht.15m) CROWN LIFT to 4m above ground level. Reason: the canopy is hanging low over the footway and to improve light to the garden. Informative: The offer of replacement trees for the elms is greatly welcomed with thanks as this will retain the tree lined plot boundary character and street amenity of Lee Terrace. The preferred trees are larger canopy species, not fastigiate forms, such as small leaved lime (Tilia cordata), sweet chestnut (Catanea sativa), tulip tree (Liriodendron tulipifera), walnut (Juglans regia), sessile oak (Quercus petraea), sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus), hornbeam (Carpinus betulus), Indian horse chestnut (Aesculus indica), disease resistant elm, beech (Fagus sylvatica). Informative: Where a tree is on the boundary or there is joint responsibility for the management of trees, any necessary agreements or permissions from the owner(s) need to be obtained before carrying out any tree work that may be permitted by the LPA.

REAR: ONE Beech (T7)(approx.ht.12m) FELL and replace with 8-10cm nursery standard Field Maple. Reason: tree is supressing growth of adjacent ash, light issues, included fork, close to no.50, previously reduced and further reduction will be required to implement neighbours planning consent DC/18/106412. Informative: the replacement planting with a field maple is hugely appreciated to maintain the treed character of the grounds of this period property, of gardens generally in this part of the Blackheath conservation area and for urban greening and environmental benefits.
