Whilst we recognise the value of these trees for the provision of habitat and carbon sequestration, the crown has become so dense that the woodland floor below has died off. We want to improve it for invertebrates and as a food source for nesting birds. We want to reduce the size of these trees and open up their canopy to sun and rain to restore the woodland garden at ground level, whilst still keeping the tree
