What a grant of permission means

The process from here

Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.

Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.

About heritage and listed buildings applications

How this application type works

Heritage applications concern listed buildings and conservation areas. Listed building consent is needed for works, inside or out, that affect the special interest of a listed building, and carrying out such works without consent is a criminal offence. The council weighs harm to the heritage asset against any public benefit of the proposal.

5 DAY NOTICE: We have looked after this tree for the best part of 15 years or so but it suffered from a major collapse to the lower main stem last week. Approximately 30% of the tree snapped and fell onto the home-owners car but without too much damage. Unfortunately the wound is significant and very low down on the main stem and I have recommended that the tree be cut to ground level as there is, unfortunately, no way of salvaging the tree. The immediate concern is that the tree now has a major weak point to the lower stem and is weighted heavily to one side, and another main stem leans towards the garage so I wish to submit a 5 Day notice for Tree Removal.
