What a grant of permission means
The process from here
Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.
Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.
About this record
Reading the register
This page mirrors an entry on the statutory planning register that Kensington and Chelsea is required to keep. The published feed for this record does not state which type of application it is, which is common for older entries and for some council systems; the register entry on the council portal will say, alongside the case officer and any consultation dates.
Every planning application follows the same broad path: submission, validation, publicity, then a decision by officers or committee. Our guide to planning application types explains the common types and what each can approve.

ARB/23/01264 Granted
25 Argyll Road, London, W8 7DA
Pune x 1 plane tree (front garden)from the owners post-pruningWe are the owners of 25 Argyll Road and we have made you aware of the fact that the residents of no 27 & no 23 Argyll Road, plus at least one of the residents to our rear off Campden Hill Road do not want this tree's presence because they say it removes their light and drops leaves in the autumn. They have attempted to get this tree pruned almost every year and I have had to intervene with you to stop it happening. However, you have granted permission for them to prune this tree now only two years after the last pruning. This is not acceptable particularly as I spoke to you about this last year, and following their botched half prune of the tree in 2020 which you made them rectify. They also have a strategy of pruning the tree right now, just as the new buds are growing in order to stunt growth for the whole of this season and buy an extra year. This is not acceptable tree management and is not in accordance with the Council Tree Policy on ensuring tree health is maintained. Therefore I would like to make it clear that we object to the tree being pruned against until February 2027 and this should be noted in the records. Finally, please would you secure a TPO for this tree. We cannot have recently arrived neighbours abusing its presence any longer.
