What happens while it is decided

The process from here

This application is with Islington for determination. The council publicises it, consults neighbours and technical bodies where required, and weighs the responses against local and national planning policy.

The statutory target is eight weeks for most applications and thirteen for major development, though extensions of time are common. Comments carry most weight while the case is undecided, so check the council portal for the deadline if you want to respond.

About full applications applications

How this application type works

A full application seeks permission for a complete, detailed proposal in one go: siting, design, access and landscaping are all fixed at this stage. It is the standard route for new buildings, conversions and changes of use. The statutory target is eight weeks for smaller schemes and thirteen weeks for major development, though complex cases often take longer by agreement.

  • P2026/1634/TRE Granted

    86 Mildmay Road, London, N1 4NG

We wish to fell the Tree of Heaven (T1 on the Sketch Plan) entirely and replace it with small bushes/foliage. The tree is on private property in front of our 7-flat building. It has become a threat to the integrity of the building and a nuisance to flats. All seven flat owners (acting as directors for the Woodville Arms Management Company, which manages the building) agree to the removal. The tree was self-seeded some years ago in the front-yard area of the building. It has grown very large and is causing concerns about the integrity of the building’s foundations. It is immediately adjacent to a structural wall alongside a lightwell and we can see that the roots have started to move the paved foundation of the front-yard. The tree is also a nuisance to flats with windows behind it as it is so close to the building that the branches touch windows and provide complete shade for at least half the year. It also keeps producing extremely fast-growing and invasive offshoots, both in the front-yard and other parts of the street. The species of the replacement bushes/foliage have not been decided upon yet, but we are looking at planting a bushy variety of no more than 2 meters high in the same place as the tree removed.
