What happens while it is decided
The process from here
This application is with Islington for determination. The council publicises it, consults neighbours and technical bodies where required, and weighs the responses against local and national planning policy.
The statutory target is eight weeks for most applications and thirteen for major development, though extensions of time are common. Comments carry most weight while the case is undecided, so check the council portal for the deadline if you want to respond.
About householder applications
How this application type works
Householder applications cover work to an existing house and its garden: extensions, loft and garage conversions, porches, outbuildings and similar alterations within the boundary of the home. They cannot be used to create a separate dwelling or change what the building is used for. Councils aim to decide them within eight weeks, and immediate neighbours are usually notified and given a chance to comment.

P2026/0573/TRE Granted
35 Wedmore Street, London, N19 4RU
Tree Species: Cherry (Prunus spp.) Location: Rear garden of 35 Wedmore Street, adjacent to the boundary with Ivo Place (see attached photographs and plan). Proposed Works Full removal of the tree and stump Reason for Work The tree is exhibiting signs of physiological decline and structural concern: Extensive crown dieback was observed in early September, with foliage retained only in one sector of the crown. A Ganoderma spp. fruiting body is present at the base of the trunk and remains visible at the time of writing. There is a basal cavity with visible internal decay and loss of structural wood. Organic matter has accumulated within this cavity. There has been recent shedding of small diameter dead branches (approximately 25mm), consistent with crown decline. Two qualified arboricultural contractors have independently advised that, given the presence of basal decay and overall decline, removal is the most appropriate course of action. Given the tree’s proximity to neighbouring properties and garden areas, the works are proposed on precautionary health and safety grounds.
