What a grant of permission means
The process from here
Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.
Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.
About heritage and listed buildings applications
How this application type works
Heritage applications concern listed buildings and conservation areas. Listed building consent is needed for works, inside or out, that affect the special interest of a listed building, and carrying out such works without consent is a criminal offence. The council weighs harm to the heritage asset against any public benefit of the proposal.

This 12m mature triple-stem sycamore located on the rear boundary line has been reduced previously. Some of the regrowth is growing over the rear neighbour's garden on Doves Yard. The tree is located right on the rear boundary and although it has been reduced back to the boundary before the reactionary growth has grown laterally over the rear neighbour's garden. This cant be stopped, all we can do is reduce the tree, not stop it growing. Suggested work: - crown reduction - reduce the height 2m back to previous reduction points - reduce the lateral regrowth 1.5m back to previous reduction points, leaving shortened furnishing growth Ivy grows up the rear boundary wall giving a nice green end to the bottom of the garden. It has now grown up and over the wall and the rear neighbour on Doves Yard is complaing. Suggested work: - reduce height of ivy to 1.5m below the top of the wall - trim remaining ivy back to contain
