Awaiting decision Islington P2025/1756/TRE Tree Works Notification in Conservation Area

Works: Trees

Still open. Anyone can comment while the consultation period runs, and comments go to the council rather than to us.

Proposal

We wish to remove a Viburnum Tinus which is growing in the clients front garden. This shrub has been allowed to overgrow the location and is planted much too close to the walking path as well as crowding out the existing Acer tree also situated in the front garden. The viburnum is in poor shape and is suffering from various pests and diseases. The Viburnum has a height of about 3.5m and spread of 2m. It is multi-stem in habit. The Canopy begins at about 2m and is clean stemmed below this. We would like to remove it altogether to allow better growing conditions for the nearby Acer, Privet hedge and to allow more light into the garden which we are now planting.

The two birch trees are in the front garden of 3 Alwyne Road and are as shown in Plan A attached. The trees have grown bigger than we were advised they would when they were planted and branches are now touching the house and overhanging the pavement. Please see the attached photograph. We would like to reduce Birch 1 by 2metres on all aspects and Birch 2 by 3 metres on all aspects. The very old pear tree is in the back garden of 3 Alwyne Road, close to the boundary wall with 4 Alwyne Road. It has shown signs of weakening over the last few years (producing fewer and fewer small pears and less vigorous leaves) and this year failed to produce any leaves in the spring and is now clearly dead. Please see the attached photographs. We would like to fell it and replace with a small and compact tree, possibly another pear.
