What happens while it is decided

The process from here

This application is with Islington for determination. The council publicises it, consults neighbours and technical bodies where required, and weighs the responses against local and national planning policy.

The statutory target is eight weeks for most applications and thirteen for major development, though extensions of time are common. Comments carry most weight while the case is undecided, so check the council portal for the deadline if you want to respond.

About trees applications

How this application type works

Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.

    321, Liverpool Road, London, N1 1NQ

A mature catalpa tree(A) exists to the front yard of 321 Liverpool Road, London N11NQ. The tree is situated near the public footpath. The applicant is undertaking works to build a roof extension that has full planning permission and listed building consent: P2025/1744/FUL and P2025/1745/LBC. An area in front of the scaffolding to the main house facade needs to be completely clear for the contractor to haul materials up the scaffolding to the rooftop level safely. It is proposed to trim back and prune light branches only up to 3.6m from the main house facade. This will give 1.9m of depth away from the proposed scaffolding across the dull width of the house. This is mostly required in order to lift new steel beams up to to the new extension level. It is proposed that no existing heavy branches of the catalpa tree are cut and/or disturbed. It is proposed to carry out this works as soon as possible and before the tree leafs out in spring. This will disturb the tree the least as it will not bleed sap as much. The pruning will not be very visible at all to the public footpath and will also provide basic maintenance pruning to keep branches of the main house facade and allow in more natural daylighting.

T1 - Front garden - Tilla sp Crown lift lower canopy to approximately 4 metres above ground level to improve light levels to the ground floor window whilst maintaining a balanced crown structure. Reduce crown back from the building to provide approximately 2 metres clearance from the structure. Reduce upper canopy by approximately 2–3 metres from branch ends, pruning to suitable growth points throughout. Works to retain as much healthy internal foliage as reasonably practicable, with the objective of managing the overall size of the tree whilst encouraging regrowth within the upper crown and reducing the development of aggressive basal and epicormic growth. Tree previously managed as a high pollard
