Granted Isle of Wight 25/01217/TW Tree Works in Conservation Area

Works: Trees

Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.

Proposal

T1; Alder (Alnus glutinosa) to be crown raised to approx 3 meters from the base to allow the separation of the ground and canopy to form a tree shape. The remaining tree is to have an overextending limb reduced by approximately 1.5 - 2 metres from branch tips, leaving a natural balanced shape. T2; Copper Beech (Fagus sylvatica f. purpurea) is to be crown raised to approx. 3 meters from the base to allow the separation of the ground and canopy to form a tree shape. The remaining tree is to be reduced by a 20% thin of the leafed area and branches brought in to maintain a natural, balanced shape. T3; Cordyline is to be removed to ground level. T4; Ash (Fraxinus excelsior) tree. Dismantle. Group 1; A group of Sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus) & Ash (Fraxinus excelsior) trees are to be crown raised to 5.5 metres from the road to be compliant with section 154 of the Highway Act 1980. The tree is to then have any remaining branches close to nearby BT lines pruned back to create a clearance.

T4; English Oak - Reduce lower lateral over-extending branches back to suitable growth points up to 2-3m from branch tips; remove downward growing branches to prevent further leveraging. Reason: Lower canopy has become unbalanced and leaning more towards the client's property. By reducing the large lateral limbs and removing downward growth we hope to promote re-balancing and take off some weight to prevent leveraging.
