Planning application
Bucklands Church Path East Cowes Isle Of Wight PO32 6RP
Works: Trees
Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.
Proposal
Oak - Dismantle to ground level. Sadly, this tree has a fairly advanced ganoderma infection at the base of the stem. A large plate of bark has fallen away, revealing the extent of the decay. I cannot see that the tree can be managed safely into the future. Replacement planting in this position not recommended due to competition from adjacent yews and limes. Limes (whole group) - Re-pollard at previously established knuckles (approx. 4m).

T4; English Oak - Reduce lower lateral over-extending branches back to suitable growth points up to 2-3m from branch tips; remove downward growing branches to prevent further leveraging. Reason: Lower canopy has become unbalanced and leaning more towards the client's property. By reducing the large lateral limbs and removing downward growth we hope to promote re-balancing and take off some weight to prevent leveraging.
