G1; Holly group - Reduce height of group by approx. 50% to improve form and future manageability. T2; Bay - Fell to coppice to allow rejuvenation in a more manageable form. T3; Sycamore - Pollard at approx. 4m to mitigate potential crown failure. This tree has suffered extensive bonfire damage, rendering reduction unadvisable. T4; Sycamore - Fell - Self sown specimen adjacent to a tree of superior form. Removal will benefit the retained tree in future. T5; Sycamore - Crown lift to approx. 5m to improve form. T6 & T7; Coppiced bays and sycamores - Coppice - Various stools showing severe basal decay. Coppicing will enable retention as a structural component of the border. T8; Weeping willow - Reduce/remove (as appropriate) lower, over-extended limbs to mitigate potential failure in high wind and serious structural damage to main stem. Currently, the upper crown is well balanced and in good condition, though top-height renders the tree very exposed to coastal wind.

T1; Sycamore - Dismantle to near ground level. Reason: This road-side tree is in a state of terminal decline. Carrying significant dead wood in the crown and with numerous defects in the stem, it is felt that restorative work would not be sufficient to enable successful retrenchment or rejuvenation. Highly likely to coppice at stump and remain as a feature in a different form. T2; Macrocarpa - Dismantle to near ground level. Reason: Following detailed discussion with both the owner of the tree and Mr. J. Willis (senior Tree Officer), it was decided that to improve growing conditions and and to encourage greater wind-firming of the adjacent cedar, removal of the macrocarpa would be beneficial. The macrocarpa has outgrown its position and has little amenity value (esp. when compared with the potential value of the cedar, if managed correctly into the future).

T3; Cedar - Remove lowest 3 limbs (crown lift) to approx. 3.5m. T4; Yew - Remove lowest live limb overgrowing shed (crown lift) to approx. 3m and remove various small, dead limbs to clean stem to 3.5m. G1; Bay - reduce height of bay clumps by approx. 3m Reason: to simplify future management

T4; English Oak - Reduce lower lateral over-extending branches back to suitable growth points up to 2-3m from branch tips; remove downward growing branches to prevent further leveraging. Reason: Lower canopy has become unbalanced and leaning more towards the client's property. By reducing the large lateral limbs and removing downward growth we hope to promote re-balancing and take off some weight to prevent leveraging.

1; English oak (closest to house) - Lower horizontal limbs towards the house removed to lift crown height to approximately 6-7m (to the main upright crown structure), continue to remove the lower crown limbs from the same tree that extend over the neighbouring garden to a similar height to balance and shape the crown. 2; English oak (western boundary) - Remove previously cut back upper crown limb/stem over garden. 3; English oak - Raise crown height over the rear boundary to approximately 5-6m in height. 4; English Oak (within the neighbouring garden to the south east) Crown raised to approximately 5-6m in height (over their outbuilding). 5; English Oak - Remove lowest horizontal limb to the south. Reason for works: Trees creating constant shade and shadow and limiting the use of the amenity space. Pruning will allow more light through and under the trees and reduce the dominance.

36 Beachfield Road Sandown Isle Of Wight PO36 8LT
TG1; Sycamore and Leylandii trees situated on bankside between property 36 Beechfield and Bayshore and Royal Pier Hotels (approximately 30 trees) - Fell. Reason: Trees are self-set in an unmanaged area, causing issues for the homeowner and posing problems for the hotels below. Bring the bankside area back into management by removing the larger trees and allowing it to regenerate as coppice, so they can be periodically cut down at ground level when they get too large in the future. Some trees have unstable root conditions, are growing through telecoms cables, interfere with fire escape routes from the hotels below, and come into close contact with kitchen electrical systems, which may pose a future fire risk if left unmanaged. Tree failure on the bankside could block the fire escapes for the hotels below.
