Planning application

176A High Street Yelling St Neots PE19 6SD

Granted Huntingdonshire 23/00169/TREE Works to Protected Tree

Works: Trees

Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.

Proposal

T1 Sycamore & T2 Horse Chestnut: Reduce height and spread by approx. 2 metres to growth points close to previous pruning points. These semi mature trees were last pruned in 2020 and proposed work will take the new growth back to around previous pruning points. The trees have the potential to increase significantly in size, encroach into each others crowns and dominate their surroundings. If left it is likely that large scale pruning works will be required in the future, and I consider that minor pruning works within the next year are preferable to major pruning works several years from now. The trees appear to have responded well to previous pruning as there is no dieback around the previous pruning points, and I consider that given their age and vitality they will recover well from this proposed work
