Works: Trees
Decided. The decision notice on the council portal carries the outcome in full, including any conditions.
Proposal
Proposed works to a line of conifers (Lleylandii) which were planted as a hedge many years ago adjacent to the road have grown to an excessive height and have degenerated into a dangerous condition. These trees have been reduced in height on a number of occasions. Additionally, it is intended to fell a cherry laurel tree adjacent to the road which is also in a dangerous condition. During periods of adverse weather, branches detach from the trees, falling on to the road below. A number of trees have already died. The intention is to fell these trees and to replace with a hedge of native species.

Atlas Cedar - the tree is positioned in the area of more recent graves and has a high target occupancy. Due to historic limb failures the trees crown is out of balance with large limbs overextended, reduce the overextended limbs by removing 2-3 metres of growth to a suitable growth point, remove major deadwood and limbs with hazard prone characteristics, thin canopy by approximately 10% to reduce sailarea and minimise risk of future limb loss.
