Planning application

28 Aylestone Hill Hereford Herefordshire HR1 1HS

Decided Herefordshire, County of P231075/K Works to Trees in a Conservation Area

Works: Trees

Decided. The decision notice on the council portal carries the outcome in full, including any conditions.

Proposal

Fell two silver birch trees 1 and 2. Trees are causing damage to the tarmac driveway and the root system has previously blocked the nearby sewer drain. Trees are adjacent to the pavement in Aylestone Hill and falling twigs/small branches are a safety hazard to pedestrians and have caused damage to vehicles parked on the drive at the property. Trees have low amenity value and are surrounded by larger more mature trees on Aylestone Hill roadside.

About trees applications

How this application type works

Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.

Atlas Cedar - the tree is positioned in the area of more recent graves and has a high target occupancy. Due to historic limb failures the trees crown is out of balance with large limbs overextended, reduce the overextended limbs by removing 2-3 metres of growth to a suitable growth point, remove major deadwood and limbs with hazard prone characteristics, thin canopy by approximately 10% to reduce sailarea and minimise risk of future limb loss.
