Planning application

34 Hafod Road Hereford Herefordshire HR1 1SG

Granted Herefordshire, County of P223697/J Works to trees covered by TPO

Works: Trees

Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.

Proposal

Proposed works to T1 - to be removed as Ash dieback was observed and signs of failure. T2 Crown reduction. T3 and T4 removed. T5 and T8 are part of a hedge line that has not been maintained historically, a 50% reduction initially will help reduce these canopies. T7 and T8 are causing structural damage to garden wall and external pavement, these trees are to be kept and returned to a state of regular management rather than removal.

What a grant of permission means

The process from here

Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.

Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.

About trees applications

How this application type works

Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.

1 Tree (Red cedar :Thuja plicata) to be taken down as has lost all colour in its leaves. The owner of the property is worried it may fallonto a parked car or even the footpath running below it. There is alsoa smaller Red Cedar growing next it the tree to be taken down. By taking down the proposed tree will allow more light and room for the smaller tree.

Atlas Cedar - the tree is positioned in the area of more recent graves and has a high target occupancy. Due to historic limb failures the trees crown is out of balance with large limbs overextended, reduce the overextended limbs by removing 2-3 metres of growth to a suitable growth point, remove major deadwood and limbs with hazard prone characteristics, thin canopy by approximately 10% to reduce sailarea and minimise risk of future limb loss.
