Planning application

P223489/J

1 Brookside Cradley Malvern Herefordshire WR13 5LE

Split decision Herefordshire, County of Works to trees covered by TPO

Proposal

Oak tree (T1) - Advised reduction pruning to reduce domination of Bulls Head Cottage (adjacent property), and to restore a more balancedcrown. Works to include: removal of two bottom limbs over Bulls Head Cottage; reduction of south, west and east sides by 4m.; reduction of height by 4m. Concerned that the unbalanced shape of the tree could lead to it falling, or shedding heavy limbs causing serious damage to Bulls Head Cottage building and occupants; also a footpath used by members of the public passes directly beneath the tree canopy and thisconstitutes another cause for our concern of safety of others.

About trees applications

How this application type works

Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.

Proposed works to Lime (T8) and Lime (T9) - fell as they are causing the curved retaining wall at the South West corner of the boundary to lean out into the road. Once felled, the area will be landscaped to reduce the pressure on the wall, the damage to the wall will be repaired, and three new lime trees will be planted. An earlier application rejected the felling of these trees, but permitted the felling of a third lime (T10). Since then, the condition of the wall by trees T8 and T9 has continued to worsen, with the cracks continuingto propagate.
