In tearing away it hascreated a long wound down the trunk some 3 metres long by about 50cm wide. Decay is visible at the point of failure. Remedial work to makesafe would have to be so extensive as to significantly lessen its public amenity value, while its expected safe, useful life expectancy will have been much reduced by the damage suffered.
