What a grant of permission means

The process from here

Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.

Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.

About trees applications

How this application type works

Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.

We are in a conservation area, but have no protection orders on the trees I would like to cut back, crown reduce and reshape. You have previously approved the same work in 2014 and 2017. I want to undertake the work to prevent the dropping of sap in my garden. My address is 24 Coniston Road, N10 2BP. The trees are in the gardens of number 9 and 11 Curzon Road N10. The lime tree in the garden of 11 Curzon Road needs to have the crown reduced to the previous pruning level, reshape and have the branches overhanging the garden of 24 Coniston Road removed. It is number 1 on the sketch. It is in good condition. The owner of the tree 11 Curzon Road is supportive of this work. The 2 trees in 9 Curzon Road are Sycamores I believe and will simply have the branches overhanging my garden removed, and I have notified the owner of this work. They are numbers 2 and 3 on the sketch. The trees are in good condition.

T1 - Ash - Crown reduction by 3m in height bringing lateral growth to shape by 1.5m. Removal of all major dead wood, leaving the tree a standing height of 9m. Reducing the crown by approximately 3 meters in height and 1.5 meters laterally will help reduce overall crown weight and wind loading, while maintaining a balanced and proportionate crown.
