Planning application

2026/0917

14 Northchurch Terrace, Hackney, London, N1 4EG

Status unknown Hackney Works to a Tree in Conservation Area Notification

Proposal

With reference to the sketch, tree 1 is the tree for which I seek permission (at the south western corner of 14 Northchurch's front garden) The tree is a horse chestnut The works would be to cut all branches back to my boundary wall (wall with number 16 northchurch terrace) The reason for the works is that there is now a substantial amount of branches coming across the boundary and this is blocking a lot of light, the tree is dropping into my gutter and roof and causing a huge amount of leaf fall in winter. Received 14th May 2026: "I am writing concerning my application to trim the tree at 14 Northchurch Terrace and to give further information. I am consulting with a tree surgeon who has clarified: We want to reduce the branches overhanging your property by approximately 2-3 metres, leaving furnished growth points. The maximum diameter of the pruning will be approximately 2-4 inches. The work will be carried out to the standard of BS 3998: 2010."

About trees applications

How this application type works

Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.
