What a grant of permission means
The process from here
Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.
Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.
About heritage and listed buildings applications
How this application type works
Heritage applications concern listed buildings and conservation areas. Listed building consent is needed for works, inside or out, that affect the special interest of a listed building, and carrying out such works without consent is a criminal offence. The council weighs harm to the heritage asset against any public benefit of the proposal.

P2026/1408/TRE Granted
136 Mildmay Road, London
There is a large bay tree (laurus nobilis) in the back of my garden whose roots are spreading, leading to multiple bay trees sprouting from the ground. This tree is also leaning into my neighbours garden, blocking much of their sun. I would like to take both stems down to the ground. There is also an elderflower tree (Sambucus) from next door whose branches cover half of my garden; I would like to prune these back to the fence (0.5m) a) because I worry they carry a health and safety risk (should they snap in a storm) and b) it leaves my entire garden shrouded in shade, not matter how bright it is. There is also a Yoshino cherry tree (prunus x yedoenis) next door whose branches have spread across my garden, and almost into my next neighbours as well, this also presents a health and safety risk should there be a storm. I would like to prune this back to the fence (1.5m)
