Planning application
The Chestnuts, Gomshall Lane, Shere, Guildford, GU5 9HE
Works: Trees
Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.
Proposal
Sweet chestnut tree: Thin out by 20% and cut some lower branches and dead wood to reduce density. Low lateral limbs overhanging property to be shortened by 2 metres to reduce risk of falling. Remove epicormic growth to crown break. Maintain crown of tree. Reasons: Tree canopy now overhangs the house - can be dangerous in high winds. Overhang also causes severe moss growth on roof. This moss inhibits natural flow of rainwater off roof and gutters which constantly need clearing. Chestnuts cause damage to tiles on roof when falling (Shere Conservation Area).

Anchor And Horseshoes, 194 London Road, Guildford, GU1 1XR
G1 Yews. (x3no) Carry out crown reduction work of 3m on radial spread and 1.5m from height and upper canopy. Current height is approx 10m and would be 8.5m after pruning, width of all trees as one, approx 15m and would be 12m from marque to car park. Reason for work. Trees are encroaching on to main building and onto dining area marque, also, pigeon foul is a problem due to area being used for dining, debris drops everywhere and , tree nearest car park has a basal decay on tension side of stem. We wish to alleviate sail area and spread to minimise impact of these trees (TPO P1/201/399).
