Land Centred Coordinates 362360 155098 Rush Hill Ston Easton Wells Somerset

Granted Exmoor National Park Agricultural Notification Excavation

Proposal

The infilling of a depression within the field using inert material (stone, sub soil and top soil) Why necessary for agriculture: This area of the field has a depression in it which is not suitable for farm machinery to travel across and therefore it cannot be managed farmed to the benefit of this established farming business. This results in the loss of crop production and this affects the farm's profitability. The area is not suitable for grazing cattle or sheep, with this filling process this area will be restored to agricultural use. Why designed for agriculture: The area of the field has a depression in it and it cannot be accessed by farm machinery as it isn't safe to travel across. This filling process will allow this area to be farmed safely and thus creating a safe working environment for the farm staff. It will also allow sheep and cattle to graze it and this will improve the animal welfare and reduce the loss of life should an animal get stuck.

What a grant of permission means

The process from here

Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.

Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.
