What a grant of permission means
The process from here
Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.
Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.
About full applications applications
How this application type works
A full application seeks permission for a complete, detailed proposal in one go: siting, design, access and landscaping are all fixed at this stage. It is the standard route for new buildings, conversions and changes of use. The statutory target is eight weeks for smaller schemes and thirteen weeks for major development, though complex cases often take longer by agreement.

As also previously, a tree, an expanding laurel, too near to the garage needs to be removed entirely, see photos att. ( Marked as T2 ) Please ignore the 3rd photo of ivy also adjacent to the garage which is not part of this application. The work is to be carried out by Treecraft Devon.

Crown reduction of 20% to the lime tree. These are halfway down our residential garden and both becoming too big for their setting. Crown reduction of approximately 3 metres from the top of the tree. Lateral crown reduction of approximately 2 metres from all sides. Approximate retained canopy radius - 3 metres. Approximate final tree height - 9 metres. The proposed works are intended to continue the established cyclical management of this mature lime tree. The tree has grown substantially since it was last reduced and is now encroaching onto neighbouring properties, resulting in the need for further management to maintain good neighbour relations. The arborist also advised that reducing the crown will help reduce the loading on the relatively slender predominant stem, supporting the trees long-term management. For reference, I have attached a photograph taken immediately after the last reduction in January 2023. The proposed works are intended to achieve a broadly similar level of reduction as as you will know, lime trees are very resilient to pollarding and regularly managed in this way.
