Planning application

Barnfield Hill Surgery 10 - 12 Barnfield Hill Exeter EX1 1SR

Granted Exeter 24/1252/TPO Works to Protected Trees (TPO)

Works: Trees

Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.

Proposal

There is a single Walnut Tree on the property which is listed under a TPO. The tree has dead branches at the very top of the Crown. In recent months several branches have fallen just missing property and is a risk to users of the business. With the loss of the summer leaves the dead branches are clearly visible and can be removed without causing further reduction of the Crown. Please see attached photograph and sketched plan.

Removal of the fir tree which is situated close to the side wall of the Barnfield Hill Surgery main building and is now growing just above the level of the Surgery guttering. The tree will be removed by a registered Tree Surgeon called Bill Crumby of Greentrees Aboricultural Services who will remove the tree completely down to ground level. The tree is in an unsuitable position and will be replaced by a smaller tree in the nearby border which is well away from any buildings.

Please see Plan attached. This plan was submitted with a similar application on 7 October 2020. T 1 was felled in 2020. T2 and T3 were pollarded. T2 and T3 require pollarding again because of their proximity to the house. See detail on plan.) T3 is already touching the house and over the roof.

    11 Devonshire Place Exeter EX4 6JA

The tree is a Cypress tree located at the front of 11 Devonshire place, to the right hand side when looking at the house. We would like to replace the tree with a native tree species - either a rowan or a cherry - in order to provide flowers for pollinators in the spring/summer and food for birds in the winter. We would like to do the removal in late (~Nov) 2026, well after the bird breeding season, in order to plant the new tree in early 2027 after the last frosts. The tree itself sits at the boundary of a conservation area.

    11 Devonshire Place Exeter EX4 6JA

The tree is a silver birch. We would like to carry out "crown reduction" reducing the height of the tree from ~10m to ~7m. Similarly, we would like to reduce the spread of the crown at the rear to reduce the amount of overhang with our rear neighbours. We will keep the left-right spread similar, only carrying out "crown thinning" in this respect to ensure the tree does not block too much light from our neighbours' gardens and our own.

Mixture of bay and cherry large shrubs to remove, which have become overgrown in the contained area next to the electricity sub station. We have removed what we can so far, but need approval to remove the rest, as they are around 5 inches at waist height. Plan to remove fully as no remedial value where they are located. Approx 20 stems to remove WHAT3WORDS is stow.poetic.skills
