What a grant of permission means

The process from here

Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.

Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.

About conditions applications

How this application type works

This type of application deals with conditions attached to an existing permission, either by supplying the details a condition requires, called discharging it, or by asking to vary or remove one. It does not reopen the principle of the permission itself. Building often cannot lawfully start, or continue past a set stage, until the named conditions are discharged.

We have one tree located at the top of our garden which is very large and blocks out most of the sunlight throughout the day. It also causes a lot of debris and blockages of our guttering throughout autumn / winter months from leaves. The tree looks very untidy where some branches could be trimmed to provide more daylight into our garden and less debris. Some branches are also hanging which could be a risk if the break and fall into our garden.
