Granted Exeter 23/1012/CAT Works to Trees in a Conservation Area

Works: Trees

Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.

Proposal

T3 - Sycamore Suggested Works: Remove hazardous deadwood Rationale: Safety and the normal maintenance of this tree. T4 - Glastonbury Thorn Suggested Works: Fell to ground level and remove stump. Rationale: Tree shows significant signs of decline and is leaning and appears unstable. T25 - Mulberry Works Suggested: Crown lift to height of railings adjacent to footpath, undertake any facilitative pruning on northern canopy as required and thin out canopy to arborist's discretion. Rationale: Low branches are extending over the site and present a potential hazard, pruning and crown thinning suggested as part of the normal maintenance works on this tree. T30 - Elm Suggested Works: Reduce branches extending towards the car parking back to the wall, reduce limb extending over driveway, reduce limb extending west towards church by approximately 4 metres. Rationale: This vigorous tree is beginning to encroach on the parking and driveway. The tree shows evidence of previous branch failure so a reduction in weight may help to prevent this happening and keep the tree in good shape. T8 - Magnolia Suggested Works: Reduce northern crown aspect to clear line of footpath. Rationale: Tree is beginning to encroach upon the pedestrian footpath. T2 - Lime & T7 - Horse Chestnut Suggested Works: Crown lift to 2 metres above ground level. Rationale: Both trees exhibit branches very close to ground level. T20 - Copper Beech Suggested Works: Remove two lowest whorls of branches. Rationale: Low branches on this tree extend over the site. T21 - Copper Beech Suggested Works: Remove lowest branch an first branch extending westwards arisings from low north westerly limb, remove adjacent crossing branch. Remove two south westerly growing limbs on newly lawned area. Remove low easterly growing limb. Crown lift remaining tree to 4 metres above ground level. Rationale: Low branches on this tree extend over the site; remaining works are for the general health and maintenance of the tree. T...

The neighbours in the adjoining property, The Old Rectory in Matford Lane, are supportive of the proposal. Ginko Tree next to and damaging the ancient cob wall between 1 Long Acres and the properties in Wayland Avenue. The Ginko is to be cut down to a height of between 1 and 2 metres to hopefully enable it to regrow but pruned regularly on the wall side of the trunk to train it away from the wall.

    19 Falkland Close Exeter EX4 5EZ

Oak tree on no mans land embankment which over looks garden of 18 Falkland Close, Exeter, EX4 5EZ. It has a large branch overhanging our garden. Tree surgeon Mitchell Tree Surgery has visited site and advised it needs to be removed. He says it is a large overhanging heavy limb which could cause considerable damage. Last year a large branch from a neighbouring oak next to It came down in a storm and caused damage. Our neighbours in number 18 and ourselves are concerned about this particular branch we wish to report to be removed. The tree itself has grown to 60 foot plus range and we all feel our houses are at risk. Sketch plan attached
