Proposal
Tree Preservation Order EL:89/53 - I am writing to formally request consent to carry out remedial pruning on T13 (Lawson Cypress) and T17 (Yew). These trees are located on the western boundary and significantly overhang my garden and parking area. My request is based on the following significant impacts to my living environment: Property Damage and Maintenance: The constant discharge of needles, sap, and bird droppings from these specific trees has caused ongoing damage to my vehicle's paintwork and garden furniture. Loss of Amenity: During warmer months, the volume of debris is so severe that I am unable to hang laundry outside or leave my doors open, as the "mess" enters the home immediately. Health and Hygiene Concerns: I am currently planning to start a family. However, the current state of the garden???carpeted in tree debris and droppings???presents a significant hygiene concern. I do not feel the outdoor space is currently a safe or suitable environment for a young child to play in. Proposed Solution: I am not seeking the removal of these trees. I am requesting a sympathetic lateral reduction of the overhanging branches to the boundary line and a crown lift. This would maintain the trees' contribution to the local area's "special amenity value" while allowing me to reclaim the use of my garden. I believe these works are a reasonable compromise that adheres to the principles of good forestry while alleviating the undue hardship these trees are currently causing.

Tree Preservation Order EL:18/07 - T1 - Horse chestnut - Proposed Works: Crown lift over the roadside only to provide a minimum clearance of 5.2 metres above ground level. All pruning shall be limited to secondary branches where practicable and carried out in accordance with BS3998:2010 Tree Work Recommendations, with a maximum pruning wound diameter of 50mm. Reason for Proposed Works: Following a tree survey, it was identified that the crown over the carriageway has been subject to contact from larger vehicles in the past. The proposed crown lift will provide appropriate clearance for high-sided vehicles, reducing the likelihood of future vehicle strikes and preventing unnecessary damage to the tree, whilst retaining its long-term health and amenity value.
