Tree Preservation Order EL:20/32 - Justification for Proposed Tree Work Scots Pine (T1), 5 Oak Road, KT11 3AZ The application seeks permission for the removal of a mature Pinus sylvestris (Scots Pine) located just outside the front garden dwarf brick wall which is currently protected under a Tree Preservation Order (TPO). The proposal is made due to a combination of amenity, health and safety, and property-related concerns, including safety risk from falling material. The tree regularly sheds large cones and deadwood with episodes of limb drop. The approach to the house entrance means these fall zones extend to parked vehicles on the driveway and where residents enter and leave the premises. There is an increasing concern about potential injury or vehicle damage, especially during periods of high winds. Structural proximity: The tree's root spread is damaging the main approach path paving together with inducing cracks in the front boundary wall. The applicant is willing to replant with alternative specie as covered in the specialist's tree report being submitted with this application.

Tree Preservation Order EL:18/07 - T1 - Horse chestnut - Proposed Works: Crown lift over the roadside only to provide a minimum clearance of 5.2 metres above ground level. All pruning shall be limited to secondary branches where practicable and carried out in accordance with BS3998:2010 Tree Work Recommendations, with a maximum pruning wound diameter of 50mm. Reason for Proposed Works: Following a tree survey, it was identified that the crown over the carriageway has been subject to contact from larger vehicles in the past. The proposed crown lift will provide appropriate clearance for high-sided vehicles, reducing the likelihood of future vehicle strikes and preventing unnecessary damage to the tree, whilst retaining its long-term health and amenity value.

All pruning works shall be carried out in accordance with BS3998:2010 Tree Work Recommendations, with a maximum pruning wound diameter of 40mm, pruning back to suitable secondary growth points.
