Granted Elmbridge 2025/2456 Tree Preservation Order

Works: Trees

Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.

Proposal

Tree Preservation Order WAL:9/72 - T1 - Beech - Crown Reduction - Reducing the height and spread of the tree by up to 2 metres T2 - Beech - Crown Reduction - Reducing the height and spread of the tree by up to 2 metres T4 - Cedar - Reduce height by approximately 0.5 metres into proportion of shape to maintain current dimensions. Reason for work: T1 and T2 are mature Beech trees that have both been previously crown reduced. Each tree exhibits cavities within the main stem at approximately 2 metres above ground level, which appear to be the result of historic large limb removals. A selective crown reduction of up to 2 metres is proposed to reduce biomechanical loading on the canopy, thereby relieving pressure on the main stem and lowering the risk of structural failure. The works are intended to maintain an aesthetically balanced and healthy crown, while preserving the trees??? overall form and amenity value. The proposed reduction is considered proportionate and sympathetic to the trees condition and past management history, and is not expected to have a significant adverse impact on their health or visual amenity. All works will be carried out in accordance with BS 3998:2010 Tree Work Recommendations, with a maximum pruning wound diameter not exceeding 40mm.

East Molesey Kent Town Conservation Area - T1 - Lime tree on rear boundary - tree has a height of approximately 20 metres and spread of approximately 12 metres. Proposed works are to reduce crown by approximately 2-2.5 metres to previous pruning points, remove regrowth on main trunk to lift crown to a height of approximately 3 metres, leaving the tree with a height of approximately 17.5 metres and spread of approximately 8 metres. These works are being carried out to give clearance from pool house, maintain the tree at a reasonable size suitable to location by carrying out cyclical pruning and allowing light into pool area.

    34 Clive Road Esher Surrey KT10 8PS

Esher Conservation Area - T1 Leyland Cypress (Rear Garden) Fell to ground level. Reason for Works: The tree is situated in very close proximity to the adjacent outbuilding. As the tree has matured, the stem has increased to a diameter at breast height (DBH) of approximately 40 cm and is now in direct contact with the structure, causing abrasion and damage to the building. Due to the ongoing increase in stem diameter, further structural damage is considered likely if the tree is retained. The proposed removal is therefore necessary to prevent additional damage while maintaining the safety and integrity of the adjacent structure. T2 Lawson Cypress (Rear Garden) Remove one large declining lateral limb and carry out a crown clean to remove all deadwood throughout the canopy. Reason for Works: A substantial lateral limb is in decline, exhibiting extensive dieback and a significant reduction in live foliage. The removal of this limb is proposed to reduce the risk of branch failure and improve the tree's overall condition. In addition, deadwood will be removed throughout the crown to eliminate potential hazards, improve canopy health, and form part of routine arboricultural management.
