Granted Elmbridge 2025/2295 Tree Preservation Order

Works: Trees

Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.

Proposal

Tree Preservation Order EL:89/25:T1 - Sweet Chestnut tree beside garage. Tree has height of approximately 14m and spread of approximately 9m. Proposed works are to remove regrowth on main stem to height of approximately 4 metres and reduce lateral branches in lower crown by approximately 2 metres. Height of tree will not be affected by these works and lower crown spread will be approximately 6m. These works are being carried out to give clearance from garage and neighbouring garden. T2 - Mature Oak tree on lower boundary of back garden. Tree has height of approximately 23 metres and spread of approximately 16 metres. Proposed work are to reduce over extended lateral branches throughout crown by approximately 2-2.5m, leaving tree with height of approximately 23m and spread of approximately 12.5m. These works are being carried out to reduce end weight, give clearance from neighbouring property and allow light into garden area. T3 - Mature Beech tree within lawn area in back garden. Tree has a height of approximately 22 metres and spread of approximately 14 metres. Proposed works are to reduce lateral branches growing towards house by approximately 2-2.5m, leaving tree with a height of approximately 22m and spread of approximately 11.5 - 12 metres. These works are being carried out to reduce end weight and allow light into garden and property. T4 - Mature Sycamore tree, adjacent to T3. Tree has a height of approximately 20 metres and spread of approximately 12 metres. The tree has low vigour, with a sparse crown, cavities at the base of the trunk with possible signs of kretzschmaria deusta and large areas of flaking and peeling bark on the main stem. Proposed works are to remove the tree due to its poor condition and prevent future failure. T5 - Mature Sweet Chestnut tree situated on right hand side of back garden near to house. Tree has a height of approximately 23m and spread of approximately 9m with most lateral branches growing towards property. P

Tree Preservation Order EL:89/25 - Mature Oak tree: Further retrenchment works required to mitigate an extensive column of decay that was discovered when Ivy was removed last year when carrying out reduction works. This decay compromises multiple large limbs where they adjoin the main stem. The large column of decay was not visible from the ground and on further inspection it is clear that it compromises most of the large boughs that adjoin the main stem. To prevent large limb failure over the public footpath and bridleway we are seeking to retrench the tree by a further 4 metres taking it down to a final height of approx 12 metres. Current height 16m final height 12m. Lateral reduction works of 3-4m, Current spread 16m final spread 12m approx.

Tree Preservation Order EL:20/08 - T38 - Oak Request to fell to ground level due to the tree's significantly declining condition and reduced long-term viability. The tree has been affected by Oak Processionary Moth (OPM), which has resulted in extensive crown dieback and a substantial reduction in vitality. In addition, the tree has suffered historic ring-barking damage caused during the construction of the adjacent residential development. This damage has disrupted the tree's vascular system and has likely contributed to its ongoing decline and limited ability to recover. The combined effects of OPM infestation and the historic stem damage have resulted in a severely compromised tree with extensive deadwood and dieback throughout the crown. The tree is located adjacent to neighbouring properties and areas of public access, and its deteriorating condition increases the risk of branch failure. Given the extent of the decline, poor physiological condition, and limited prospects for recovery, remedial pruning would not provide a sustainable long-term solution. Permission is therefore sought to fell the tree to ground level on the grounds of safety, declining health, and sound arboricultural management. A new tree wouild be planted to replacement

East Molesey Kent Town Conservation Area - T1 - Lime tree on rear boundary - tree has a height of approximately 20 metres and spread of approximately 12 metres. Proposed works are to reduce crown by approximately 2-2.5 metres to previous pruning points, remove regrowth on main trunk to lift crown to a height of approximately 3 metres, leaving the tree with a height of approximately 17.5 metres and spread of approximately 8 metres. These works are being carried out to give clearance from pool house, maintain the tree at a reasonable size suitable to location by carrying out cyclical pruning and allowing light into pool area.

    34 Clive Road Esher Surrey KT10 8PS

Esher Conservation Area - T1 Leyland Cypress (Rear Garden) Fell to ground level. Reason for Works: The tree is situated in very close proximity to the adjacent outbuilding. As the tree has matured, the stem has increased to a diameter at breast height (DBH) of approximately 40 cm and is now in direct contact with the structure, causing abrasion and damage to the building. Due to the ongoing increase in stem diameter, further structural damage is considered likely if the tree is retained. The proposed removal is therefore necessary to prevent additional damage while maintaining the safety and integrity of the adjacent structure. T2 Lawson Cypress (Rear Garden) Remove one large declining lateral limb and carry out a crown clean to remove all deadwood throughout the canopy. Reason for Works: A substantial lateral limb is in decline, exhibiting extensive dieback and a significant reduction in live foliage. The removal of this limb is proposed to reduce the risk of branch failure and improve the tree's overall condition. In addition, deadwood will be removed throughout the crown to eliminate potential hazards, improve canopy health, and form part of routine arboricultural management.
