Granted Elmbridge 2025/1265 Tree Conservation Area

Works: Trees

Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.

Proposal

East Molesey Old Village Conservation Area - T1- Mature decaying cherry tree located in rear garden- - Section fell to as close to ground level as possible and grind out remaining stump - reasons for work is the tree is heavily decayed with a large rot pocket approximately 1.5 meters above ground level on main trunk. Ganoderma bracket was seen near to the base and there is significant die back in the upper canopy T2- Mature twin stemmed lawson cypress tree located far right corner of rear garden- - Reduce height of canopy by 2.5- 3 meters pruning to suitable live growth points - Reasons for work is the tree is multi stemmed and the reduction will alleviate the wind sail and pressure on unions at base. The garden also has excessive shading and the reduction in height will allow more sunlight into the garden. After Pruning the tree will still stand at 10 meters in height and 6 meters in width.

Tree Preservation Order EL:18/07 - T1 - Horse chestnut - Proposed Works: Crown lift over the roadside only to provide a minimum clearance of 5.2 metres above ground level. All pruning shall be limited to secondary branches where practicable and carried out in accordance with BS3998:2010 Tree Work Recommendations, with a maximum pruning wound diameter of 50mm. Reason for Proposed Works: Following a tree survey, it was identified that the crown over the carriageway has been subject to contact from larger vehicles in the past. The proposed crown lift will provide appropriate clearance for high-sided vehicles, reducing the likelihood of future vehicle strikes and preventing unnecessary damage to the tree, whilst retaining its long-term health and amenity value.

The proposed works are intended as cyclical maintenance to manage the extent of the crown over the neighbouring garden whilst retaining the tree's health, structural integrity and amenity value within the woodland setting. All pruning works shall be carried out in accordance with BS3998:2010 Tree Work Recommendations, with a maximum pruning wound diameter of 40mm, pruning back to suitable secondary growth points.
