Part of this application was approved and part refused. The decision notice on the council portal sets out which is which.
Proposal
Tree Preservation Order EL:00/06 - The tree is the only Oak in the rear garden, at the back fence and has a TPO on it. EL:00/06 It is number 1 on the photo of the sketch. Work required : It was last looked at in 2017 and it has grown much larger. There is dead wood in there, and as it overhangs a large portion of our garden, and some of the neighbours who have small children, I am worried we may have broken branches falling, and it may be a hazard. Hence wish to try to contain the tree, and reduce some branches all round, by 2/3 metres. Branch cut diameter not to exceed 2.5 cm.

Tree Preservation Order EL:18/07 - T1 - Horse chestnut - Proposed Works: Crown lift over the roadside only to provide a minimum clearance of 5.2 metres above ground level. All pruning shall be limited to secondary branches where practicable and carried out in accordance with BS3998:2010 Tree Work Recommendations, with a maximum pruning wound diameter of 50mm. Reason for Proposed Works: Following a tree survey, it was identified that the crown over the carriageway has been subject to contact from larger vehicles in the past. The proposed crown lift will provide appropriate clearance for high-sided vehicles, reducing the likelihood of future vehicle strikes and preventing unnecessary damage to the tree, whilst retaining its long-term health and amenity value.
