Tree Preservation Order - EL:197 - T1 Lime Current height 27m Current width 12m - Reduce Lime tree in height by 4 meters and back to previous pruning points. - Reduce lateral branches by 2 meters. An aerial inspection has been carried out to assess the health of the tree, at this time the Ivy on the stem has been removed and deadwood removed. No other concerns with the health of the tree. The the last reduction was done in 2011 and the tree has grown significantly since then. Our proposal is to reduce to previous pruning points by 4 meters in height and 2 meters on lateral branches in order to reduce the size of the tree and balance the crown.

Proposed works comprise minimal, targeted arboricultural management to support the tree's long-term health, structural integrity and safe retention, in accordance with the recommendations of the Dryad Arboricultural assessment (Cedar of Lebanon). Works to include: Crown clean to remove all dead, dying and diseased wood (diameter >25mm), including detached, hanging or weakened branches, to reduce risk of failure and improve overall canopy condition Selective, light crown thinning (approximately 10-15% of secondary growth only), undertaken evenly throughout the crown to reduce end weight on extended lateral limbs, improve light penetration and airflow, and reduce sail effect without altering overall canopy density or structure Minor structural pruning to reduce loading on specific limbs identified within the Dryad assessment, including selective shortening of tertiary branches and sub-laterals where necessary to rebalance weight distribution and reduce leverage on unions All works will be carried out in accordance with BS3998 (Tree Work Recommendations), using appropriate pruning cuts and techniques to avoid unnecessary stress and to maintain the physiological health and natural form of the tree. No removal of primary scaffold limbs is proposed. No topping, lopping or excessive crown reduction will be undertaken. There will be no material alteration to the overall size, height or natural shape of the tree. The extent of pruning will be limited strictly to that recommended within the Dryad assessment and confined to secondary and tertiary growth only, ensuring a proportionate, retention-led approach consistent with current arboricultural best practice. Tree Preservation Order EL:93/13 - T1 - Oak - Reduce the lateral canopy extending over the property by approximately 3 metres, pruning back to suitable growth points in order to retain a balanced and natural crown form. Current dimensions: Height 15m, crown spread 15m. Reason for works: A significant defect has been identified within the principal lateral limb extending over the property. The limb, which has an approximate diameter of 35cm, contains a cavity extending approximately 20cm into the wood, representing more than half of the limb's diameter. The location and extent of this defect raise concerns regarding the long-term structural integrity of the branch. The tree has previously been subject to more extensive pruning on the neighbouring side but has not been correspondingly reduced within the applicant's property boundary. This has resulted in an unbalanced crown with a greater proportion of the canopy and associated loading concentrated over the property. The proposed reduction is intended to lessen the end weight and wind loading on the affected limb, thereby reducing the risk of branch failure while retaining the tree's overall health, amenity value and natural appearance. The works represent a proportionate arboricultural management approach that will help ensure the continued safe retention of this mature Oak within the landscape. T2 - Oak (please see the attached tree report) Crown Spread: North 6.5m, East 6m, South 5m, West 10.5m Condition: Upright tree with a pronounced south-western canopy bias and excessive end weight on elongated lateral growth.
